Steve > This is just another scene as the day drew to a close. It is normal for the women to wear bright colored clothes but I've heard that as they are fleeing their homes and soon after they arrive in the camps the colors become somber like their moods. As hope and joy returns then so do the colors. We pray they will one day have an unfading hope in the eternal God.
Steve > This is the airport in Gueréda. There are no buildings and no pavements. Instead of lights these painted tires mark the runway. As the plane approached to come and pick us up it first did a flyby to make sure we were there and friendly before flying around again to land.

Security with machine guns protected the runway during landing and take-off and soon the scene was as deserted as this photo.
Steve > And this was our ride! This is such a better way of traveling although normally we are not allowed on board since we work with a mission and the plane is only for non-governmental organizations. Thankfully the wheelchair distribution was in coordination with the UNHCR so we enjoyed a 40 minutes flight rather than a 6 hour drive through very rough terrain.
