Steve > As the morning started I decided to test out my telephoto lens against the binoculars . I stayed with my camera the entire safari. These lizards live all around our house and make a tasty snack for our kitty. On Monday and Tuesday our team went on a Safari to Waza National Park in northern Cameroon. It was a great time and the following pictures will tell the story of our adventure.
Steve > We left Miskine around 11am on Monday and stopped for lunch about halfway to Waza. Roads are nice but sometimes it feels so good to drive off the road, through a millet field, and find some shade beneath a large sprawling tree. By the end of our two-day trip I was VERY happy to stay on the pavement.
Steve > This is one of the many scenes we see everyday. As we sat beneath our shade tree eating lunch these ladies were walking down the hot pavement into town. One of the ladies stopped and stared at the 13 strange white people sitting in the millet field. I just hoped it wasn't her millet field.
Steve > This is yet another daily scene. Sometimes moments like these pass by without a thought but I wonder what it looks like through your eyes after returning from your daily errands.
Steve > The housing in Waza was pretty cool as the rooms looked like huts. We had half of one hut which was a room with a bathroom but thankfully it did have A/C. Unfortunately the electricity went out around midnight as a storm blew in on Monday night. We did get to see lots of animals before the rain though.

Steve > The entrance into the park. The animals aren't held in cages and you aren't guaranteed to see anything but that makes it all the more fun. We hired a guide who sat in the passenger seat while I drove with the rest of the team and kiddies sitting in the back.

Steve > The Topi or Sassaby is a savannah and floodplain antelope.
